HLTAID003 - Provide First Aid
Formerly Senior First Aid
This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance. This unit incorporates the content of HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and HLTAID002 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support.
Nil, however it is recommended that participants have basic literacy skills.
- Two day course course (16 hours).
- One day course (8 hours) with a workbook blended program.
- It is important that you attend each session of this course so that you are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.If you are unable to attend any sessions, please contact your instructor
- Your qualification will be valid for 3 years and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that you attend a resuscitation update every 12 months.
Assessments for Senior First Aid will be conducted throughout the course to demonstrate if you have achieved the required knowledge and skills of the procedures necessary to manage a life-threatening situation prior to the arrival of medical aid.
This process will consist of – Theory Assessment completed with a workbook prior to the practical training day, or during the training sessions as part of a face-to-face program. Learners with identified Language, Literacy and Numeracy deficits will be offered an oral assessment if required.
Skills Competencies – Assessment of skills will be conducted in simulated conditions. Learners must demonstrate competency in all sections to qualify for a Statement of Attainment.
