OCCUPATIONAL FIRST AID
Occupational First Aid Course Overview
The Occupational First Aid course is a five (5) day course essential for people who are responsible for workplace Occupational Health and Safety issues. It is designed for Australian workplace conditions and specifically deals with injuries, accidents and illnesses that occur in the workplace.
Building on the skills and knowledge gained in Provide First Aid course (HLTAID003), Occupational First Aid will equip the First Aider with the skills to work within an industrial environment, using relevant First Aid Equipment. The Occupational First Aid training course also provides information on state and federal legislation, as it applies to workplace First Aid.

The Units Of Competency delivered in this course are
- HLTAID001 – Provide CPR
- HLTAID003 – Provide First Aid
- HLTAID006 – Provide Advance First Aid
- HLTAID007 – Provide Advanced Resuscitation
- HLTAID008 – Manage First Aid Services and Resources
On completion our Occupational First Aid course you will be able to
- Assessment of a casualty
- Bleeding and wound care
- Care and maintenance of First Aid facilities
- Care of welfare in the workplace
- Completing relevant documentation
- Legislative requirements
- Manage safety and apply legislation in the workplace
- Recognise and apply the principles of triage
- Resuscitation, oxygen and defibrillation
Assessment
Assessments are ongoing throughout the course. They are used to gauge if you have mastered the skills and knowledge needed to safely manage a life threatening incident before help arrives. Knowing this often gives participants a massive boost in confidence.
Practical assessments are done through role-plays and work-place simulations where possible. Everyone enjoys this method of learning and people find they remember the information better in the heat of the moment.
